Why We Started?

Given the scarcity of comprehensive Cantonese learning resources, many learners find it challenging to effectively acquire the language.

Systematic self-learning resources are hard to come by, and many available materials do not include audio or Jyutping with tone markers, which are essential for accurate pronunciation and understanding. Most existing Cantonese videos also lack corresponding subtitles or translations, making it difficult to use them as effective learning tools.

To address these gaps, we have created a platform that features both online lessons and a diverse collection of songs. Our online lessons are designed to provide structured and comprehensive guidance for self-learners.

Additionally, all videos on the platform are accompanied by Cantonese romanization (Jyutping), Yale romanization, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and English translations.

This ensures that a wide range of learners can effectively learn Cantonese through phonetic transcription, translated subtitles, and comprehensive lessons, making the learning process both enjoyable and effective.

Credits

This website is inspired by many other Cantonese resource platforms. The audio files are from 粵音資料集叢, which includes a comprehensive database of Cantonese pronunciations. The design of tone markers for Jyutping are inspired by VisualFonts. Due to some technical issues, we do not use the font directly, but we highly recommend using VisualFonts with Typeduck for Cantonese typing.
