to do anything in this place

而家嘅話呢

There are a lot of Hong Kong people who are from Hong Kong or from overseas

都會搵我見面嘅

二零一四年佢哋同法律學者戴耀廷

In 2014, together with the legal scholar Benny Tai Yiu-ting

一齊發起佔領中環運動

they initiated the Occupy Central movement

佢哋三個被稱為佔中三子

The three of them are known as the "Occupy Trio"

如果佔中三子冇戴耀廷

If Benny Tai were not one of the "Occupy Trio"

其實係唔會出現到呢個佔領運動

there would be no such occupy movement

改變歷史往往亦都有啲

戴耀廷係首先提出運動構思嘅人

Tai was the first to come up with the idea of the movementy

希望用違法佔領道路嘅公民抗命方式

He hoped, by occupying roads illegally as a form of civil disobedience,

爭取冇篩選機制嘅補選

to fight for a by-election without political screening

我要真普選

I want real universal suffrage

但係當時為期七十九日嘅佔領運動

But the 79-day occupation movement

並冇令北京同埋香港政府退讓

did not make the governments of Beijing and Hong Kong concede

三個人喺佔中運動之後

After the Occupy Central movement, three of them

被判公眾妨擾罪罪成

were convicted of public nuisance

戴耀廷同陳建民分別被判入獄十六個月

Tai and Chan were sentenced to 16 months in prison

朱耀明就獲判緩刑

Chu was given a suspended sentence

被判刑坐監

Were sentenced and imprisoned

五年之後

香港爆發反送中運動

戴耀廷目前已經還押超過三年

呢一單串謀顛覆國家政權案嘅組織者

as the organizer in this case of "inciting subversion of state power"

最重嘅刑期可以判終身監禁

The maximum sentence is life imprisonment

我都成八十歲喇

How did I know him?

第一次呢就係我幫佢證婚呀

The first time - I was his marriage officiant

戴耀廷係一個非常天真嘅純真嘅一個人

Tai is a very simple and innocent person

佢諗到一樣嘢嘅時候呢

When he decides to do something

就全心全意去做

he does it wholeheartedly

戴耀廷呢曾經有一次同我講呢

喺個佔中運動嘅期間

It was during the period of the Occupy Central movement

He said there were three people, who went to the beach

冬天呀想游水

It was winter and they wanted to swim

第一個人呢衝衝衝到個海邊

The first person rushed to the shore

都未落到水啫

Hadn't go into the water yet,

見到咁嘅情況

he realized how cold it is

都係走返返轉頭太凍

Then he turned around and walked back, it's too cold

噉就冇跳落去

He didn't go into the water

第二個呢就走走走到去個海邊嗰度

The second one walked to the shore

搵隻腳掂一掂啲水

slightly touched the water with his feet

嘩真係凍嘅走返返轉頭

Wow, it's cold for real, he turned around and walked back

佢話第三個呢就係乜嘢都唔諗嘅

He said that the third one didn't think of anything

一口氣就衝過去

佔中運動係以和平理性非暴力為號召

The Occupy Central movement is based on the principle of peace, rationality, and non-violence

期間政府向本地示威者

During the movement, the government fired at the local protesters

施放自一九九七年主權移交以嚟嘅

with the first tear gas since the transfer of sovereignty in 1997

係佔中埋下咗年輕人轉趨暴力嘅種子

It is Occupy Central that planted the seeds for young people's turn to violence

政府係⋯⋯呢一種激發出嚟嘅勇武

The government is...this kind of provoked valor

呢個係只有政權先可以噉樣做

This is something that only a regime can do

雨傘運動呢整體嚟講呢

其實已經係能夠保持到啫係和平㗎

Peace had indeed been maintained

政府越係唔回應民間嘅一啲訴求嘅話呢

The more the government refuses to respond to the demands of the people

越係能會促使到個社會係越嚟越走向激進化呢

the more it will push the society to radicalize

係一件非常之自然嘅事

And the responsibility lies with the government

Looking back, if you ask me to choose again

爭取唔成功嘅話

their suppression will intensify

呢個係無可避免

It's inevitable
